RE: 3D Environment

This seems to be more a programing question than a graphic one. Our tech department mentioned OpenSG. Since you say you are well versed in C ++, this application is based on it. The company describes it as a portable C++ scene graph library for 3D graphics applications. Its main distinguishing features are extensive support for multi-threading, reflectivity and good extensibility. A little too technical for me, but you can check into it further at http://www.opensg.org. Hope this helps.
