Domino offers higher security and lower attention once set up

Depending on your requirements for other functionality may dictate which way you ultimately move. Exchange is pretty common but requires more regular attention than Domino for a small company. Most Viruses are written to attack Outlook and are do not effect Domino users as often, so from a security perspective, Domino is better.

If you want to develop document management, forms processing or other systems Domino provides a lower cost platform for delivering these products. ".Net" is the direct competitor offered by Microsoft for this type of functionality, but has a higher cost associate with creating the applications.
